Syntax
fx
=DATE(year, month, day)
Arguments
ArgumentDescription

Paste this into Google Sheets to run it. The live playground on this site covers 24 of the 61 functions, and DATE isn't one of them yet.

Common pitfalls

  • DATE(2026, 13, 1) doesn't error: it rolls over to January 2027. Same for day overflow. Useful for math; surprising if you assumed validation.
  • Years 0-1899 are interpreted as offsets from 1900 by default. Pass full 4-digit years to avoid surprises.
